Unit 1
Classification, Nomenclature & Isomerism
In organic chemistry notes, topics include classification of organic compounds and their naming using both common and IUPAC systems (up to 10-carbon open-chain and carbocyclic compounds). Additionally, the concept of structural isomerism in organic compounds is clearly explained.

Unit 2
Alkanes, Alkenes & Conjugate Dienes
In these organic chemistry notes, topics include sp³ hybridization in alkanes, halogenation, and uses of paraffins. Also covered are sp² hybridization in alkenes, E1 and E2 eliminations, reaction kinetics, carbocation rearrangement, Saytzeff’s and Markovnikov’s rules, ozonolysis, and reactions of conjugated dienes like the Diels–Alder reaction.

Unit 3
Alkyl Halides & Alcohols
SN1 and SN2 reactions cover kinetics, reactivity of alkyl halides, stereochemistry, and carbocation rearrangement. Also included are structures and uses of common halogen compounds and alcohols, along with qualitative tests for alcohol identification.

Unit 4
Carbonyl Compounds
Key topics include nucleophilic addition, electrometric effect, aldol and Cannizzaro reactions (including crossed types), benzoin and Perkin condensation, qualitative tests, and uses of compounds like formaldehyde, acetone, benzaldehyde, and vanillin.
Unit 5
Carboxylic Acids & Aliphatic Amines
Carboxylic acids cover acidity, substituent effects, inductive effect, and tests. Includes structures and uses of acetic, citric, oxalic, salicylic acids, and esters. Aliphatic amines cover basicity, tests, and uses of ethanolamine, ethylenediamine, and amphetamine.
